01

Join a student organization

Being around others with similar goals can help you achieve yours. Student organizations, like PhiDE, will give you the opportunities and connections to get you into medical school.

02

Get good grades

Your GPA will stick out on your applications, so make a good first impression. Studying in college can be much different than studying in high school. Do not compare your study habits or your grades to anyone else. Experiment and find studying methods that work for you!

Remember; your GPA does not define you :)

03

Get clinical / patient care hours

You need to know that you want to work in healthcare before you apply to medical school. Working in clinical settings will show you different aspects of the healthcare system. The experiences you get along the way can be talking points during school interviews and show dedication to the medical field. Our members volunteer and work a variety of different medical jobs.

04

Get involved in research

Medical schools like to see applicants that have an understanding of the scientific method and research process, beyond the classroom. Reach out to researchers on campus or look for summer research internships.

Study for your MCAT

The MCAT is a standardized test that summarizes all the knowledge you have learned in college. Be sure to check the topics that will be on your test's version and make a study plan. Your score is another good way to make a good first impression on your application.

06
Take care of yourself

Give yourself a break. Do something for yourself. Hangout with friends, watch a movie, go for a walk. Your wellness is more important than your grades.
